Today let’s talk about ways to start the year better.

But before that, how has your first week of the year been? I would love to hear about it! Mine has been pretty wild already.

On the first day of the year, I listed my New Year’s Resolutions and goals for 2024. And one of them is publishing a blog post each week. I have wanted to be consistent in writing, and while reflecting on it before New Year’s, I realized I had always ended up making excuses why I couldn’t.

It was a big busy year last year for me; I moved out of my parents’ place for the first time, worked a lot and travelled more. I learned a lot of new things living away from my parents, and it made me realize the importance of many things that I may have been taking for granted. Thanks, Mum and Dad!

Over the course of last year, with much trial and error, I have created a new routine that has helped me with general planning with work, finances, social life and self-care. But I didn’t achieve my writing goals last year.

It’s still a big WIP.

This year, I hope to improve my time management skills and create a routine that will allow me to balance work and life, including pursuing my writing endeavours.

Like what my partner reminds me, work to live, not live to work. Thanks, babe!

Now, let’s explore ways to kick off this year with a positive mindset.

Tips to start the year better

  • Create SMART (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic, Time-bound) goals
  • Be consistent
  • Reward yourself for your achievements, whether it’s big or small
  • Have a monthly and weekly calendar of things that you need to attend to
  • Create a daily planner
  • Don’t forget to set a time for yourself and do things that you enjoy
  • Stay positive

These are things that I keep reminding myself of, and doing them has worked for me big time. If you haven’t tried them yet and are looking for ways to improve productivity, give it a go, it may help lessen stress and produce better outcomes.

Good Planning = Less Stress = Better Outcomes = Happiness

Thank you for reading, and I wish everyone a Happy and Prosperous New Year! See you next time!
